Who runs the legal clinic?
The LGBT Life Planning Clinic is jointly conducted by the LeGaL Foundation and the LGBTQ Law Project of the New York Legal Assistance Group. The groups are responding to the increasing need for life planning documents, which are vital to ensuring the greatest protections possible for the LGBT community given continuing inequality under the law and ever-changing legal developments.
What kind of help is offered?
The clinic is aimed at assisting members of the LGBT community of modest means with the preparation of long-term life planning documents, including health care proxies, living wills, wills, and powers of attorney.
When and where is the clinic held?
The legal clinic is held every fourth Tuesday of the month from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (excluding holidays) at The Center in Manhattan.
The Center is located at 208 West 13th Street (b/w 7th and 8th Avenues). Contact NYLAG’s LGBTQ Law Project (212-613-500, extension 5107 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org) to inquire about services.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is necessary, but you should arrive prior to 6:30 p.m. to ensure that you can be seen.
