About the Internship Program
LeGaL’s internship program provides insight into the daily operation of a nonprofit legal organization with longstanding service to the LGBT community. Under the guidance of LeGaL’s Legal Director and volunteer attorneys, interns participate in client intake, assist with legal research, organize case documents, learn valuable legal resources, and develop a deeper understanding of the profession. They have the opportunity to interact directly with clients through LeGaL’s free legal clinics, client phone calls, and online inquiries. As a result, LeGaL's interns gain exposure to a wide range of legal issue and practice areas, including housing, criminal law, discrimination, employment, family law, immigration, and estate planning.
Interested Candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and two references to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please enter "LeGaL Internship" in the subject line of the e-mail.
"The work at LeGaL proved to be very worthwhile. It provided me with a taste of not only working in the legal profession, but also of working in the nonprofit sector. Not only were the attorneys providing vital legal services to help improve the lives of members of the LGBT community, but they were also doing so with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. These people truly care about the clients that contacted us, and it was a pleasure working with them. LeGaL is a great organization to intern with and a great place to learn about the everyday work of attorneys and of life in the nonprofit sector." – Benji Martinez, Summer 2016 Intern
