Public Interest Law Committee (“PILC”)

The Public Interest Law Committee ("PILC") is made up of the LGBT not-for-profit legal services community, governmental attorneys and judges, academics, and attorneys interested in pro bono opportunities and public interest work.

The PILC focuses on policy and legal issues facing the LGBT community in general and specifically underserved members of the LGBT community like LGBT youth, transgender individuals, and LGBT elderly. To this end, the committee consults on LeGaL's legal clinics and referral service, updates resource materials, maintains a list of local organizations serving the LGBT community, participates in relevant legislative efforts, and sponsors CLE’s and other trainings with a public interest focus.

To meet these needs, the PILC often utilizes special committees, including the new steering committee for LeGaL's Leadership Council. The PILC is also responsible for an annual Volunteer Awards Night honoring the dedicated individuals who provide outstanding and ongoing commitment to LeGaL’s legal services on behalf of the LGBT community.

All LeGaL members in good standing are welcome to be part of the PILC.  If interested in joining, please contact Committee Chair Anthony Perrotto at
